Hammer Fist – In this technique, the martial artist is swinging their clenched fist downward toward an attacker’s nose or another target. Jab – The jab is a quick punch designed to keep an attacker disoriented or off guard. This can typically be used against the eyes, neck, or other attack points.Įlbow Strike – An elbow strike can be a devastating technique, when performed near an attacker. ![]() Thumb Strike – The martial artist is essentially striking a vital part of the attacker’s body with the thumbs, to quickly incapacitate his or her attacker. It can be used to warn an attacker without exerting a high level of force, or it can be used to temporarily incapacitate someone with a strike to the groin area. ![]() You simply open and extend your fingers for a reverse slap. The Backhand Strike – This technique amounts to essentially a reverse slap. This technique can be used to go after the face, eyes, or groin when needed. This leaves you with the option to grab, rip, or simply strike a pressure point. You simply form your hand into a claw-like arc and strike the attacker’s neck. Tiger Claw – The purpose of the tiger claw is to exploit a soft spot on an attacker. The power in this move comes when you rotate your body into the punch, for added momentum. In this punch, the martial artist strikes an opponent with the rear hand. Straight Punch – Sometimes called a cross, reverse punch, or a rear hand punch, it is the most common punch used in the martial arts. It can also be used to strike an attacker in the bridge of the nose to escape an attacker. It can often be used as a finishing move, to disorient an attacker. The primary benefit to this approach is that you are using a padded part of the hand and decreasing the risk of injury to fingers.īack Fist – As the name suggests, the back fist involves hitting your opponent with your fist and knuckles. Palm Strike – The main purpose of the palm strike is to use the heel of the palm to strike an opponent’s nose or chin.
